Chagai District

Chaghi District (Balochi: چاگۓ دمگ; Urdu: ضلع چاغی), also known as Chaghi District, is the largest district of Pakistan by area, located in the northwestern corner of the Balochistan province of Pakistan.[2] District shares the border with two countries Afghanistan and Iran.The word chagai is combination of two Persian words"چاہ گے" Chah means (well) and gaih means (spot). Chagai means the place of Wells.

Demographics

At the time of the 2017 census the district had 32,509 households and a population of 226,517. Chagai had a sex ratio of 904 females per 1000 males and a literacy rate of 36.91% of which 47.54% of males and 25.16% of females. As of report 16,265 (7.18%) lived in urban areas. 35.53% of the population were under 10 years of age. 1,209 (0.53%) people in the district were from religious minorities, mainly Hindus.[1]

The school infrastructure rank of District Chaghai is 114 nationally, with a severe shortage of electricity with a score of 4.55 and building condition score of 12.27. Lack of schools for girls is the main issue of the region.[3]
