In 2022, Asher was a candidate in the 2022 Ontario general election for the New Blue Party of Ontario, which garnered publicity by opposing public health measures against COVID-19.[6] She ran in Spadina—Fort York, placing fifth with under two percent of the vote while incumbent MPP Chris Glover was re-elected.
Angela Asher is superb as Nancy, a fortysomething nurse who has figured she does medicine better than most of the doctors she's worked with.
Directed by Canadian Derek Diorio and shot in Northern Ontario, the 13-episode series features an ensemble of familiar Canadian faces: Angela Asher, Danielle Bourgon, Rachelle Casseus, Tamara Duarte, Kyra Harper, Christian Laurin, Patrick McKenna, Andrea Menard, Stéphane Paquette, Melissa Jane Shaw, Jamie Spilchuk, and Australian Mark Coles Smith.
The New Blue Ontario Party will be courting socially conservative Ontarians who have opposed the various public health restrictions imposed during the two years of the pandemic.
