Carol Locatell (December 13, 1940 – April 11, 2023) was an American actress. She was best known for her role in the 1985 slasher film Friday the 13th: A New Beginning as the mean and foul-mouthed Ethel Hubbard.[1]
Locatell's first movie role was in the 1973 film Coffy. She also appeared in the Burt Reynolds films Paternity, Best Friends and Sharky's Machine. She also has made guest appearances on many television shows, including Bonanza, M*A*S*H, ER, The Practice, 7th Heaven, Touched by an Angel, Without a Trace, and Grey's Anatomy. In 2014, she appeared in season four, episode six of Shonda Rhimes' political drama series, Scandal as former First Lady Bitsy Cooper.[2] Locatell was a prolific theater as well, and it was her preferred type of acting.[3] Her most notable theater appearances include The Gin Game in its Los Angeles production in 1976, as well as appearing on Broadway in Broadway Bound in 1986, The Shadow Box in 1994, and The Rose Tattoo in 1995.[3]
Locatell was born in Atlanta and raised in San Mateo, California.[3] She attended San Francisco State University but dropped out after getting hired for a touring production of The Odd Couple.[3] She was married to musician/songwriter composer Gregory Prestopino.[3] They divided time between in New York City and Thousand Oaks, California.[citation needed]
Locatell died of cancer at her Sherman Oaks home on April 11, 2023, at the age of 82.[3] She was survived by her husband, her only immediate survivor.[4]
