MartinBot

Information

MartinBot is a Wikipediholic - it can't write articles, nor can it converse intelligently with users, but what it is good at is fighting vandalism. The bot is running a copy of the AVB code, originally developed by Tawker and Joshbuddy, which I've spent some time fixing to work with the new interface updates to Wikipedia. You can find more info about the AVB bots here.

You can see various logs and cool searches of the bot's database here.

Problems

The bot goes through various checks before reverting an edit, checking the size difference and the addition of bad words (among other things). Sometimes, you'll make an edit which the bot may mistake as vandalism (for example, if you create a redirect incorrectly, or if you blank the page). In this case, please don't report this to me, as it happens all the time. If you can see a clear reason for the bot's revert, again, please don't report it to me (though if you'd like guidance, I'd be happy to help). If, however, you can see a clear problem with the bot, please either leave a message on my talk page or get in contact with me on IRC (in ##martinp23 on Freenode).

To find the reason for the bot's revert, go to [1] and enter your username where required. If the search fails to run, please do not retry!

Bot, you are perhaps the most seen contributor (at least to an old style RC patroller) on wikipedia, may your robotic vandalfighting last a thousand years. I now propose a toast to MartinBot :).

I second it.Shindo9Hikaru 02:26, 25 April 2007 (UTC) I enjoy racing this bot to see who reverts the vandals first. Dang it, the bot always wins! Thank you, MartinBot!Invisible Noise 05:21, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

Great Bot. The number of times I end up in an edit conflict or finding that it's already done the job when I go to revert vandalism is unreal. If I had a dollar pound for every time... ;-) Angus Lepper(T, C, D) 21:16, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

This page has been vandalised a vast number of times, when will people realize it's just a bot??? I mean, are they just jealous that this is one of the best vandalism reverters on Wikipedia? MartinBot, you're awesome. Calmsavior 09:00, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

The sheer AMOUNT of times this Bot has beaten me on VandalPatrol is unbelievable! You just can't win! Well done MartinBot! Lradrama 10:46, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
