Teatro de la República (literally, Theater of the Republic) is a theater in the historic center of the city of Querétaro, México. It is one of the most important historic buildings in the city.[1] In 1867, the trial of Maximilian I of Mexico was held in the theater. He would be convicted and sentenced to be executed.[2] The theater would gain its current name after hosting the drafting of the Mexican constitution in 1917. [3]
