The current Chanel article states that Chanel have continued to do business in Russia since the start of the war with Ukraine, which is is incorrect. Chanel have stopped doing business in Russia and have even gone as far as to stop selling to Russian buyers outside of their borders.

Email campaign

Good afternoon,

I received an unsolicited email from a group advertising its experience "for crafting impactful narratives" and offering the "prospect of immortalizing your story on Wikipedia." Out of curiosity, I asked for a specific user to validate the quality of the content this group can produce. In their reply, I was sent a link to this page along with a separate link to acewritingexperts.com. I can't see any history of that "company" abusing the project, but the domain is just a skinned WordPress blog with a proxied domain that just seems to be a few months old. Yup, I was only able to see that it was registered to WordPress' in-house registrar (automattic + sawbuck) and all of the data was redacted except for the province/country (Sindh, PK), which does line up to Karachi. As far as the business, they offer a 35 day (!?!?) turn-around and ask a "standard fee" of US$3,555

I had submitted a page based on an up and coming entrepreneur Tyler Dusty? I sourced him to TikTok And instagram where he has gained quite a following over the years and also added the articles where I had originally found him. It did not let me submit a citation to NY times though which was weird. Have never made a Wiki article before so I thought It would be cool since no one has made one for him yet, whats the reasoning for the deletion? We need reliable sources for articles, not instagram, tiktok, or fake SEO sites like usinsider. Articles consisting solely of silly puffery like "his journey serves as an inspirational blueprint for young entrepreneurs and business leaders", or "a tenacious pursuit of industry dominance" are typically deleted on sight. MSN functions as a news aggregator, republishing material from a number of shady sites. One of them, 'theubj' is a site that has been blacklisted globally across all Wikipedia projects as a SEO operation. Given the history of promotional edits on that article, it would be best to stick to quality sources. I'm sure you'll agree as a neutral editor that has absolutely nothing to do with the other spammer that was recently trying to whitewash that article. Hank Leiber article citation needed

Recreating CSD pages

Hi Kuru, after some discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Articles for creation and the Wikipedia Discord regarding COI/promo wording potentially blurring people's assessment of notability, I wanted to take a stab at some G5, G11, and G12 deleted pages. I came across Spacebit and Draft:Bitget (the latter I actually use to handle cryptocurrency sometimes), and I think they could meet notability with proper work, so I want to take a stab at them. Spacebit was repeatedly a target for this sockfarm, which was funded through Wikibusiness, an LTA problem. Bitget was a client for the same paid editing farm. As they were both simple G5s, any editor in good standing is welcome to take a shot at it. I'd probably pick from the thousands of G11s created by misguided COI accounts instead of ones that involved actual paid abuse, but I have a chip on my shoulder with people who pay to unethically manipulate Wikipedia. Yeah, I just noticed that through the AfD nominations. To be fair, both of them have decent sourcing in multiple WP:GREL sources, so with proper work I think articles are possible.

Ideological bias on wikipedia

User Jingiby pushes ideological bias against ethnic Macedonians. Everything related to republic of North Macedonia and Macedonians is edited by ethnic Bulgarian from Republic of Bulgaria.

For example about "Georgi Pulevski" the word "Macedonian" is removed constantly by him. The person fought how Macedonians are separate ethnicity but when u try to put his ethnicity it is removed by the Bulgarian editor. It just says he is Mijak (which is ethnographic group of Macedonians). This is like saying someone isn't american he is Californian.

The 'thehypemagazine' is an advertorial paid placement blog. I've seen fake material and pure spam articles from them; it does not, in any way, meet our requirements for reliable sourcing. For the two I removed from your article, "sypstudios" is just a straight-up fake SEO sink; spammy anonymous "articles" with SEO links embedded throughout. "artistweekly" makes it a little easier on you: brand paid placement is disclaimered at the bottom of the article as "This article features branded content from a third party. Opinions in this article do not reflect the opinions and beliefs of Artist Weekly." The author is a SEO/PR hack associated with the Kivo spamming ring as well. In each case, you just need to poke around a bit and evaluate the sources you are using. UPE/sock farm

Hi Kuru, earlier this month you blocked Daniel Martin77 who was listed in this glock request for now glocked Annika59. Looking at Draft:Arcadia School there's are couple more. It was moved back to mainspace by Adam Mccintosh so they are very likely a sock but they have not edited any other projects so not sure they are eligible for a glock. The other sock, Shirawi, is currently username block. Pinging @Bbb23: since they blocked Johnsoncharles2023 back in March and is also listed in the glock request just so he is aware. It would be best to use the WP:AFC process for creating articles like this. Avoid silly puffery like "These tasty morsels are intrinsically woven into the very fabric of local community life" and "touting him as the undisputed GOAT (Greatest of all Time), who are we humble few to argue?". Most of the article was general sales realted to buckwheat and gluten, and not the actual company. I'd remove any of the marginal sources that are clearly based on regurgitated press releases. TOI and others are pretty marginal these days, and vanity interviews will not count for notability. WestNet Inc. was actually deleted per G11 by Bbb23 back in June. I can't see whether the draftified article is just a recreation of that page, but it might be given all the attempts to recreate "WestNet Wireless". @HouseBlaster: Just for reference, I only came across this because of some posts made on Explicit's user talk page like this, this, this, this and this. Explicit has just been, for the most part, rightly ignoring them, but I don't think this is going to stop on its own. These accounts aren't just showing up at random, and there's seems to be a really good chance that there's some off-Wikipedia MEAT going on. Other users besides Expicit have also received similar requests/posts. Since it seems the recreations are likely going to continue, perhaps there's a way to SALT the article titles and close derivations of them so that they can't be recreated without administrator review instead of blocking individual accounts. It is possible to salt drafts or userpage drafts, though I would be very uncomfortable salting in someone else's userspace and there is a (imo persuasive) essay at WP:NOSALT which explains why salting is bad. FYSA - I've deleted the draft as promotional junk, almost every marketing claim is primary sourced and many of those sources fail to even cover the claim or are completely fabricated. The financial numbers are nonsense (3.5m rev with 6.5m operating profit?), and some of the material points to companies that are unrelated. I'm most concerned with the fake sources and fake claims. I'll watch the accounts talk page and see if there's ever a coherent response to your questions, but this feels like a tiny company that's really into self-promotional claims. The obscene language may be found under the "Addition of Opposing Reception" section at the May 18, 22:49, May 19, 16:07. Though I will warn you, the statements are extremely childish and crude, completely disgusting and totally unbecoming to an editor.

As far as the charge of edit warring, we have gone back and forth because the other editor has refused to make a legitimate argument in favor of their preference for the article (or any argument at all) and has resolved to attacks and spurious accusations. I do not know why will occur at the end of the protection for the article, because the other editor has refused to express why they feel their opinion is correct.

This latest dispute has come about because the editor has been combing through the page history after being rebuked on a discussion page. However, it does appear they were partially correct in regards to the page section removal. Once again, thank you for telling me that the text should be archived,

My reply was fine, I suspect that your level of proficiency in English is a barrier. By SEO sources, I'm noting the usage of blackhat blogs which exist only to promote marketing, public relations, or spamming SEO 'professionals'. An example would be 'foxstoryindia', which is an anonymously-authored SEO blog run by an SEO brand firm. These sources, and other paid marketing sources, are not acceptable. Another is 'menafn', which is just a PR distribution blog. There are many other sources that appear to be promotional that you've used. I would strongly suggest keeping the article in the draft space the next time, and using the WP:AFC process until you have the hang of reliable sourcing. Yeah, that's a fun one. There are a large number of sites which pretend to be legitimate sources, but are actually just cheap blogs with unmarked paid placement or spam articles. This is one of them. They usually get blacklisted, but I wait until I've seen them used repeatedly by obvious UDPE accounts. They appear a lot in articles about minor celebrities, social media influencers, or "serial entrepreneurs" so you need to have extra care when sourcing articles/biographies like that. I know interviews are biased and shouldn't be used solely to create an article but some general things can be taken. My point is that a fact, eg where the interviewer was born or hobbies he had growing up that have to do with his work, why can't that be used? I can pay them $50 to publish anything I want, including an imaginary interview with made up facts covered by WP:BLP. There is zero reputation for fact checking and they've simply published utterly fake material before. It's a scam front. If the material is notable, I'm sure you can find it published in reliable sources - please be cautious and selective when writing biographies about living persons. I don't disagree with removing "Odyssey (publication)"

From List of animated series with LGBT characters: 2010–2014. My choice was either to flag it with "better source needed" OR to remove it. And since no one has added any sources since July, it makes sense to remove it. I think I added that source a while back when my understanding of what was, and wasn't, a reliable source, wasn't as developed as it as now. But, I have been re-reviewing the sources on ALL the lists of animated series with LGBT characters and have been flagging a bunch of sources with "better source needed." I'll see if I can find some more *reliable* sources for Nathan Seymour / Fire Emblem... Historyday01 (talk) 15:20, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
