Battle of Bajrur

The Battle of Bajrur was fought between the Sikh forces led by Sahibzada Ajit Singh and the Ranghar and Gurjar tribesmen of Bajrur.

Background and Battle

On March 15, 1701, a group of Sikhs from the Sialkot District area who were on their way to Anandpur Sahib were detained by the Ranghar and Gujar residents of Bajrur.[1] When the Guru learnt about this, he ordered his son Ajit Singh to proceed to Bajrur to punish the culprits.[2] The Sikh forces went to Bajrur and besieged the village.[3] The town was ravaged to send a message.[citation needed] Chittu and Mittu (the leaders) along with some other villagers were killed.[1]

Aftermath

The villagers never again attacked or detained the Sikhs.[2]
